Dayora vs Reflection: two ways to use an AI journal

Reflection’s feature pages describe a writing coach that asks follow-up questions, guided journeys, voice transcription, and Ask Your Journal. Dayora’s entry reflection starts from what you wrote; Reflect is a separate place to talk it through. Both offer more than a place to store text.

Try a similar, non-sensitive entry in each app. Read the reply and ask whether it helped you see something useful. Then return to the entry later. The experience of finding and rereading your writing is part of journaling, not a secondary feature.

Reflection states that entries are encrypted at rest and in transit and are never used for AI training, including on its free plan. Dayora discloses a different arrangement: entries sent to OpenAI may be used to improve and train its models in exchange for an allowance of API usage.

If excluding your writing from model training is a requirement, that difference weighs against Dayora. Do not treat “private to your account” as the same claim as “not processed by an AI provider”. Read the actual policy, including any audio and retention terms relevant to how you journal.

Consider Dayora if you want free entry reflections, voice transcription, mood tracking, and conversational reflection together, and accept its data arrangement. Explore Plus when you want deeper ongoing context. Questions across your journal are available only to selected accounts in the limited Ask rollout, with Plus also required. The free journal remains useful without a subscription.

Consider Reflection if its guided approach, import options, or stated no-training policy better match what matters to you. Check the current plan screen for AI and voice allowances.
