Rosebud’s free plan is ending: what to check before switching
Rosebud has announced its free plan will retire on 30 September 2026. Here is what changes, how to keep your writing, and your options.
Announced free-plan retirement
Rosebud says existing entries will remain available to export.
The retirement date comes from Rosebud’s own notice. Its in-app offer and billing screen are the authority for your account.
Ask your journal is currently in a limited rollout for selected accounts. A Plus subscription by itself does not unlock access.
This guide concerns the Rosebud journaling app at rosebud.app. Dayora publishes it independently and is not affiliated with Rosebud.
What Rosebud has announced
Rosebud’s Changes to the Free Plan notice sets 30 September 2026 as the retirement date. It links the change to an upgraded memory experience and the resources needed to run it. The notice also says your writing will remain yours and directs free users to an offer inside the app.
The public homepage still describes Rosebud as free to use. For the announced change, read the more specific help-centre notice linked below. Do not assume that an older review or a general homepage sentence describes what will happen to your account after that date.
Preserve your writing before deciding
- Use Rosebud’s own export guidance and download your journal. Keep a copy somewhere you control.
- Open the exported files and check that the entries and dates you need are present. An export is only useful if you can read it.
- Check the offer shown in your Rosebud account, including the renewal price and billing period. This guide does not know your individual offer.
- If trying another journal, test a few non-sensitive entries first. Do not delete your existing archive just because you have opened a new account.

If you are considering Dayora
Dayora’s free core includes entries, AI reflections, voice transcription, mood tracking, Reflect chat, and Your Circle. Plus is optional and adds live calls and deeper conversation memory. Ask your journal requires both Plus and access to its limited rollout; subscribing alone does not unlock it.
Dayora does not currently have a dedicated Rosebud archive importer. Its ChatGPT import guide is for a different format and is not a promise that Rosebud exports will work. You can keep your old export and start new entries here, or manually bring over selected writing if you choose.
Read the privacy policy first. Dayora sends journal content to OpenAI under an arrangement that may allow model training. A free plan does not remove that trade-off. The right replacement is one you understand and want to use, not simply one that costs less.
