Questions about Dayora, answered
Including the ones with awkward answers.
At a glance
- What it is
- Dayora is an AI journaling app for the web, operated by Crafted in Context Pty Ltd in Victoria, Australia. You write or speak an entry and it comes back as three things: a summary in your own voice, an insight you could not see from inside, and one next step small enough to do today.
- What the free core includes
- Unlimited entries, the three-part reflection on every one, voice journaling with transcription, mood and energy tracking, Reflect conversations, Your Circle relationship insights, AI memory you can edit and delete, letters to your future self, and full export in JSON, PDF, or Word. No credit card, no trial timer, no ads.
- The optional Plus layer
- Plus is the optional deeper layer of reflection, at 9 USD a month or 72 USD a year (6 USD a month for anyone who joins before 1 November 2026, locked in). It adds voice calls, a daily synthesis email, Deep Self Reports across your whole history, mirror moments, and relationship stories for the people in your Circle. Nothing that was free has moved behind it, and every account gets one 30-day Deep Self Report free.
- What happens to what you write
- Your entries are sent to OpenAI to generate your reflection, your replies in Reflect, and your transcripts. Under Dayora's agreement with OpenAI, that content can also be used by OpenAI to train and improve its models, and in exchange OpenAI provides a daily allowance of free usage that helps keep the free core free. Dayora does not train a model of its own on your writing, does not sell your entries to advertisers or data brokers, and does not share them with anyone else. What it does mean in practice is that your journal is not a sealed room: it is processed by a third party who may learn from it. If that is not a trade you want to make, Dayora is not the right journal for you, and you can export everything and delete your account in one tap.
- Voice and call audio
- Dayora keeps the audio of voice notes and calls, not only the transcript, so the team can check the quality of what Dayora heard and said. It is kept indefinitely, reaches us over HTTPS, and Dayora makes no at-rest encryption claim about the audio files themselves. Deleting your account deletes it.
- Languages
- Dayora can be set to 11 languages, and the app itself follows the setting rather than only the AI: English, Español, Português, Français, Nederlands, Polski, Bahasa Indonesia, 日本語, Deutsch, Italiano, and Suomi. Separately, you can write an entry in any language at all, including ones not on that list, and the reflection comes back in the language you wrote rather than in English. Your own words are never translated when Dayora quotes them back. Spoken replies on a voice call are English only for now.
- Where it runs
- The browser, on any device, with no app store and nothing to install. Journal text and account records are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Delete everything in one tap, any time.
- What it is not
- Not therapy, not a clinical service, and not a crisis line. Dayora is a wellness tool that sits alongside professional care rather than replacing it. For urgent support, findahelpline.com lists trained people available 24/7.
Frequently asked
Can I use Dayora in a language other than English?
Yes, and it is free in every language. Dayora can be set to 11 languages: English, Español, Português, Français, Nederlands, Polski, Bahasa Indonesia, 日本語, Deutsch, Italiano, and Suomi. You pick one on the first step of setup, where Dayora guesses from your device and shows you what it chose so you can correct it, and you can change it any time at Profile then Language. The setting translates the app's own screens as well as what Dayora writes. You are also not limited to that list when writing: an entry in any other language is read, stored exactly as you wrote it, and answered in that same language.
What is Dayora?
Dayora is an AI-powered journaling app that helps you understand yourself through daily journaling, mood tracking, and AI-powered insights. The core is free forever: voice-to-text journaling, a three-part reflection on every entry, Reflect conversations, AI memory, and Your Circle relationship insights are all included at no cost. An optional paid layer, Plus, adds voice calls, a daily synthesis email, Deep Self Reports, and relationship stories for the people in your Circle.
Is Dayora free?
Yes. Dayora's core is free forever, with no credit card required and no trial period. Unlimited entries, three-part reflections, mood tracking, voice journaling, Reflect chat, Your Circle, and AI memory are all included at no cost. Plus is an optional paid layer that adds voice calls, a daily synthesis email, Deep Self Reports across long time windows, and relationship stories for the people in your Circle. Nothing you already use moves behind it, and there are no ads.
How does Dayora's AI work?
Every entry gets a three-part reflection: a one-line summary of what you said in first person, an insight you may not have seen from inside, and one concrete next step small enough to do today. Across entries, Dayora detects recurring patterns, remembers facts about you (which you can edit or delete), and notices the people in your life through Your Circle.
What makes Dayora different from other journaling apps?
Dayora combines AI-powered reflection with voice journaling, Reflect conversations, and automatic relationship insights, all in the free core. It doesn't just store your entries. It reads them gently, notices patterns, remembers context, and returns a question to sit with hours later when an entry was heavy. Voice calls come with the optional Plus layer, which is how Dayora is funded instead of ads or selling data.
Is my journal data private and secure?
Partly, and the honest answer has two halves. Your entries are encrypted in transit and at rest (TLS 1.3, AES-256), never sold to advertisers or data brokers, and you can delete everything with one tap. But they are sent to OpenAI to generate your reflections, and under Dayora's agreement with OpenAI that content can be used to train and improve OpenAI's models, in exchange for free usage that helps keep the free core free. Your journal is not a sealed room, and you should decide what to write knowing that.
Is my journal used to train AI models?
Yes, and this is the part to read carefully. Your entries are sent to OpenAI to write your reflection, and under Dayora's agreement with OpenAI that content can also be used to train and improve OpenAI's models. In exchange OpenAI gives Dayora a daily allowance of free usage, which is part of how the free core stays free. Dayora does not build or train a model of its own, and does not sell your entries to advertisers or data brokers.
Can I use Dayora for voice journaling?
Yes. Dayora's voice journaling is 3x faster than typing, and it is part of the free core. You can also start a 'Call' with Dayora on the optional Plus layer, a voice conversation that opens with something it remembers from last time, mostly listens while you talk, and answers when you ask. Every call is automatically transcribed and gets a three-part reflection attached.
How does mood tracking work in Dayora?
Mood tracking is simple: three moods (happy, neutral, sad) and an energy level. Dayora plots a year of these as a draggable mood timeline and a heatmap, surfacing patterns (e.g. 'Your Mondays run 40% heavier than the rest of the week') without asking you to look for them.
Can I use Dayora for anxiety journaling?
Yes. Dayora is excellent for anxiety journaling. The AI identifies anxiety triggers and patterns, helps you understand what influences your anxiety, and provides a private, secure space to process anxious thoughts. Dayora is a wellness tool and not a replacement for professional mental health care.
What is Dayora Plus?
Dayora Plus is the optional membership that adds a deeper layer of reflection on top of the free core, and it is what keeps Dayora free of ads and data sales. It adds five things: Call Dayora (real voice conversations that open with something it remembers and save to your journal in your own words), a short synthesis letter written fresh each morning, Deep Self Reports across your whole journaling history, mirror moments that show two things you actually wrote, weeks apart, with a reflection on what changed, and relationship stories that read everything you have written about one person in your Circle and show, with dates and your own words, how things have moved. It includes about 20 call minutes and one report a month, the current price is on the pricing page, and nothing free ever moves behind it.
What is a Deep Self Report?
A Deep Self Report is a long, careful reading of your journal: the themes you keep returning to, the contradictions, the people who recur, and what has actually moved over months rather than days. Every observation quotes your own entries and links back to them, and anything that cannot be verified word for word against what you wrote is dropped. Every account gets one full 30-day report free once it is 14 days old with ten entries; the longer reads, across 90 days, a year, or everything, come with Plus.
Can I journal in a language that is not on the list?
Yes. The list of eleven is what you can set the app's own screens to, not a limit on what you can write. Write an entry in any language at all, including one that is not on that list, and Dayora reads it, stores it exactly as you wrote it, and writes back in the same language you used rather than in English. Your own words are never translated when Dayora quotes them back to you. The one exception is spoken replies on a voice call, which are English only for now.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Dayora runs in the browser on any device, with no app store and nothing to install. You can add it to your home screen if you want it to behave like an app, but there is nothing to download and no approval step between deciding to try it and writing your first entry.
Can I get my writing out, and can I delete it?
Yes to both. Full export in JSON, PDF or Word is part of the free core, not a paid feature and not a support request. Deleting your account deletes what you wrote, including the audio of any voice notes and calls. Neither one is buried: both are in your profile settings.
How does AI feedback on a journal entry actually work?
You write or speak an entry, and it comes back as three things: a one-line summary of what you said, in your own voice and in the first person, an insight about something you probably could not see from inside the entry, and one next step small enough to actually do today. That happens on every entry, whether you wrote a sentence or ten paragraphs. Separately, across entries, Dayora notices patterns over weeks and months, remembers context you can read and edit, and may return a question to sit with several hours after a heavy entry.
Is there a free alternative to the paid AI journaling apps?
Dayora's core is free, which is the short answer. The longer one is that the word free covers three different arrangements in this category, and they are not comparable: a free core, a free trial that ends, and a free tier with a cap that may or may not be published. Dayora's page on which AI journaling apps are actually free sets out the difference and publishes a figure only where it was read off the company's own site.
