Import your Rosebud journal, your own words only
Export your Rosebud entries as one Markdown file, open it in Dayora and check every entry before it is saved. Dayora keeps only your own words, each on the day you wrote it.

This guide concerns the Rosebud journaling app at rosebud.app. Dayora publishes it independently and is not affiliated with Rosebud.
Keep a copy of your Rosebud export
Use Rosebud’s export option in Settings, or export one entry from its menu. Rosebud documents Markdown export. If you receive a ZIP, extract it first and keep the original.
You can inspect the files in a text editor or in Dayora’s account-free local reader.

Open the file and review your entries
In Dayora, open the import screen from Profile, choose Rosebud and open your Markdown file. A full Rosebud export is read on your device, and every dated entry is listed by month, ticked, before anything is saved.
Each entry keeps only the turns under your name. Rosebud’s questions and replies, its titles and tags stay out. Untick anything you would rather not keep. If the file has another layout, for example dates in another language, you select your own writing one entry at a time instead.
Dates and repeat imports
Each entry is filed on the date of its heading in the export, in your account timezone. In the one-at-a-time import you choose the date yourself. Dayora records the import time separately. Importing a newer export later adds only what is new.
The original time of day, photos, audio and Rosebud’s AI replies are not preserved. Repeating the same text on the same date skips the duplicate. Imported entries do not receive automatic reflections.
What is sent to Dayora
Opening the file reads it on your device. Only the entries you keep ticked, or the text you select, are sent with their dates when you import. The rest of the file stays out of the import request.
Once saved, the entry is part of your Dayora journal. Journal AI features can process it under Dayora’s data policy, including the OpenAI data-sharing agreement that may allow training. Keep your original Rosebud export file too.
Questions and answers
Can Dayora import my whole Rosebud ZIP automatically?
Extract the ZIP first. The Markdown export inside can then be imported whole: Dayora lists every entry for you to check and adds the ones you keep. A file in another layout goes through the one-at-a-time import.
Will an AI reply be mistaken for my entry?
No. Every turn in a full export is labelled, and Dayora keeps only the turns under your name. Rosebud’s turns, titles and tags are never imported. If more than one name appears besides Rosebud, you choose which are yours, and you see every entry before it is saved.
Are the original dates preserved?
The calendar date is. Each entry is filed on the date in its Rosebud heading, in your account timezone. The export has no time of day, so none is kept.
Is import free?
Yes. Rosebud import is available in the free core.
