Why is Dayora free?
We believe journaling should be accessible to everyone, and a journal you have to keep paying for is not accessible. The core is funded by an optional paid add-on, taken up by people who want voice calls and deeper reports. That covers the free plan, so we do not need ads and we never sell user data.
Will it become paid later?
No. Everything you use today stays free. There is now an optional paid add-on, but it only adds things that were never part of the free app: voice calls, a daily synthesis email, and Deep Self Reports. Nothing that was free became paid, and nothing will.
How do you make money then?
Through Dayora Plus, an optional upgrade. Members get voice calls with Dayora, a daily synthesis email, and Deep Self Reports. Everyone else keeps the full journal for free. That is the whole business model: no ads, no data sales, nothing hidden.
Is my data safe?
Yes, with one thing worth knowing. Your entries are encrypted, never sold to advertisers or data brokers, and never shared. They are sent to OpenAI to generate your reflections, and under our agreement with OpenAI that content can also be used to train and improve OpenAI's models, which is part of how the free core stays free. Section 2.1 of the privacy policy explains the arrangement.
