How to use a prayer journal with Dayora
A paper prayer list gets long and then gets lost. This one keeps each prayer with its date and who it is for, so you can see what is still open and what came through.
1. Write it as you would pray it
Write an entry the way you talk to God, using your own name for God. Dayora replies to what you wrote and meets it on your terms. It never argues about belief and never tells you what counts as prayer.
2. Keep the prayer
When you pray for something specific, for you or for someone, the reply offers Keep this prayer, in your words. Nothing is kept unless you tap it, and Undo takes it back.
3. Mark it answered
Mark answered moves a prayer from Still praying to Answered, with what happened in your own words. Only you mark a prayer answered. Let it go takes one off the list, and Put it back returns it.
Your prayer list, kept for you
What I'm praying for
Still praying
- That Mum's surgery on Thursday goes well, and that she is not afraid. For Mum. Kept 3 November.
- Patience with the kids this week. For me. Kept 1 November.
Answered
- A way through the job search.Kept 12 October. Answered 28 October.“Started at the clinic today. Thank you.”
Two lists: Still praying and Answered. Each prayer has the day you kept it and who it is for, and the page counts how many you have kept and how many you have marked answered.
Every line is yours. The prayer is in your words, and so is what you wrote when you marked it answered. When a later entry plainly says how a prayer turned out, the reply can show it next to what you wrote today and ask. You decide; Not yet leaves it where it is.
The example is made up. Yours will be longer or shorter, and it is yours.
A journal for your prayers, not a Bible app
Dayora is for what you bring to God, written in your words. If you want a daily verse, a reading plan or a devotional, a Bible app does that better, and the two sit well side by side. Here is what Dayora does with a prayer, and what it never does.
- It uses your own name for God and meets your faith on your terms, whatever your faith is.
- It never quotes scripture unless you did, and never says what God wants.
- It never answers a prayer as if it were God, and never says that God answered a prayer or did not.
- It writes a prayer for you only when you ask, and only from your own words.
- There are no streaks and no reminders to pray. You come back when you want to.
With Dayora Plus, Looking back sets each prayer beside the newest thing you wrote about it since, in your own words. Nothing in it is written by AI. See what Plus adds.
Questions about prayer journaling
What is a prayer journal?
A prayer journal is a place to write your prayers down instead of only saying them: what you are thankful for, what is heavy, who you are praying for and what you are asking. Written down, a prayer can be read again later, and you can see what changed since you first wrote it.
How does a prayer journal work in Dayora?
You write as you would pray, in a journal entry. When an entry prays for something specific, for you or for someone, Dayora's reply offers Keep this prayer, in your own words. Kept prayers go on What I'm praying for, under Still praying, each with the day you kept it and who it is for. When something happens, Mark answered lets you add what happened in your own words, and the prayer moves to Answered. Let it go takes a prayer off the list, and Put it back returns it.
What do I write in a prayer journal?
Whatever you would bring to God that day. Many people start with one line of thanks, then what is weighing on them, then the people they are praying for by name, then what they are asking for. A sentence is enough. Writing the date and who a prayer is for makes it easier to look back and see how it turned out.
Is there a free prayer journal app?
Yes. In Dayora, writing, Dayora's replies, keeping prayers and marking them answered are free, with no card and no trial that ends. Dayora Plus adds Looking back, which sets each prayer beside the newest thing you wrote about it since, in your own words. Without Plus, the page says how many of your prayers you have written about since.
Is Dayora a Christian app?
Dayora is a journal for anyone, and many people use it to pray. It meets prayer on your terms and uses your own name for God, whatever your faith. It never argues for or against belief and never tells you what God wants or what counts as prayer.
Does Dayora quote scripture or answer my prayers?
No. Dayora never quotes scripture unless you did, and it is not a Bible app or a devotional. It never answers a prayer as if it were God, and it never says that God answered a prayer or did not: only you mark a prayer answered. It writes a prayer for you only when you ask, and only from your own words.
Will it remind me to pray?
No. What I'm praying for has no streaks and no reminders to pray. When a later entry plainly says how a kept prayer turned out, the reply can show that prayer next to what you wrote today and ask whether to mark it answered. Not yet leaves it where it is.
Who can read my prayers?
Nobody else who uses Dayora can see your journal, and your entries are never sold. They do go to the AI providers that write Dayora's replies, which may use them to train their models. Who on the Dayora team can read entries, the other services involved, and what deleting your account removes are all in one place: the privacy policy at dayora.ai/privacy.
